Strategic Peacebuilding

In the world of conflict transformation, we have found a new concept: "Strategic Peacebuilding" in Castilian could be "strategic peace building."

Last March, the Kroc Institute at the University of Notre Dame, published the book "Strategies of Peace: Transforming Conflict in a violent world" dealing with this new concept from different perspectives and by several authors. Some of the topics covered are:

- Searching strategies in the era of peace building. Daniel Philpott

- Strategic Peacebuilding. Author: J ohn Paul Lederach and Scott Appleby

- Strategic Peacebuilding: Concepts and challenges. Author Peter Wallenstein

- Evaluating Peacebuilding Initiatives. Author: Hal Culbertson

- Reconciliation: An Ethic for Peacebuilding. Author: Daniel Philpott

- What strategy?, What peace? The Role of Institutions in International Peace Construccción Strategic. Author: Simon Chesterman

- Penalties, counterterrorism and peacebuilding Estratègic. Author: George Lopez
- Peace and Justice? Contributions to international judicial processes in building peace. Author. Robert Johansen

- Human rights and peace building strategy. The role of actors at local, national and international. Author: Roht-Arriaza Naomi

- Economic globalization and strategic peacebuilding. Author Jackie Smith

- Response imperative: Humanitarian Action and Peace-building strategy. Author: Larissa Fast

- Transforming Community Friendship hatred: Education for forgiveness as a resource for peace building strategy. For post-conflict in Belfast. Authors: Robert Enright, Jeanette Knutson Enright, Anthony Holter

- Religion and Peacebuilding. Author: Gerard Powers

- Strategic Peacebuilding: Beyond liberal peace. Author: Oliver Richmond

As we see, the list of authors is impressive, all fairly academic experience in peace building and conflict transformation. It is interesting to note the different perspectives and approaches the book seeks to answer the challenges that the subject has experienced in recent years. Perhaps an obvious gap is the absence of a paper on gender and peacebuilding, as well as environmental and peace building. Perhaps the editors explore these issues in a later volume.

is noteworthy articles like the Philpott of Lederach and Appleby, as they provide the essential elements of strategic peacebuilding. Equally interesting is the contribution of Oliver Richmond, one of the critical princial liberal visions of peace.

For now the book is only available in English. Anyway emerges as a necessary resource for all (as) those interested (as) on issues of peacebuilding.
